The unusual combination of jasmine and caramel and a great aroma is what tempted me to try this tea. At the Fauchon boutique at Place de la Madeleine I got the chance to smell it and it instantly became a must-have. It was a loose, non-packaged tea, so the boutique attendant gently put my tea into an exclusive Fauchon black and fuchsia bag and carefully folded the top to seal it. The whole packaging process took quite a while, but it was impressive to watch, just how much effort was put into delivering the product. Of course I was looking forward to trying it at home.

One other exciting thing about this tea apart from the choice of flavoring, is that it’s a blend of Chinese green and black tea. The leaves in dry form looks like a late autumn mix – dark black tea, dull green and light brown tea with accents of yellow jasmine flowers here and there. The most prominent feature is the strong authentic aroma of Creme Caramel – just like this desert there is a defined smell of burnt caramel, with a toned down sweetness. The rough caramel almost completely takes over the jasmine, but it’s still identifiable.

The flavor itself is also rough and slightly sour and most importantly it fulfills the promise of its initial aroma.

I like this tea, I think it’s innovative, very original, everything around it and about it is a great experience.
