This is an interesting take on bagged tea. Tetley has created a bagged tea from Fujian white tea, mandarin pieces and the aroma of oranges and mandarins. I was pleasantly surprised, when I opened the box there was a fresh and authentic mandarin aroma. There are 20 tea, round tea bags in this pack, each wrapped in a separate foil to preserve the aroma. After brewing one of these I got a cloudy, yellow-orange liquor with a sweet citrus/mandarin fragrance. The taste is a little bitter and only slightly reminds me of white tea, otherwise flat and lacking character. It leaves a sour tingle on the tongue. The major plus of this tea is the aroma which improved the whole experience and the flavor.

I decided to dissect the tea bag and I found that the tea wasn’t just dust, but it’s actually tea leaves cut up in small pieces. Tetley states that the tea is made of fresh tea buds, and in fact, I did find some tea bud pieces (and even one whole bud), but it’s certainly not made entirely of buds. There were also some white mandarin particles present.

White is the ‘in’ color now, thus the box looks current and appealing. Part of the reason why I chose this tea is because the package looks more interesting and different from other Tetley teas.

Overall Tetley White Mandarin is one of the better bagged teas you will find on a supermarket shelf. In this category this tea is a winner, because it’s not absolutely terrible and it can also be quite enjoyable for some. Taking all the above into consideration I’d give it between 6 and 7, so let it be 6/10 for now.

This blog rocks! I gotta say, that I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks, :)

A definite great read.. ..
