Tea Collectibles – Tea Cards

17 11 2008

PG Tips is known for its innovative ways to promote and advertise their products. While still under the name of Brooke Bond & Co they launched one of their famous campaigns in the form of collectible tea cards. The cards contained images and information about all kinds of topics – flowers, animals, technology and famous people and could be found on the bottom of the tea package. This campaign lasted for about 45 years, since the 50s until 1999 when the last farewell card was issued.

Similar cards were also issued by Typhoo Tea since the 30s throughout World War I and II.

Below you can see two Typhoo cards from Characters from Shakespeare series (1937) and Trees of the Countryside (1937) and two Brooke Bond cards from British Wildlife (1958 ) and History of Aviation (1972).
