Trandglas MIKO – Glass at its finest

22 02 2009

Trendglas MIKO is a very charming teapot. Pouring from it feels steady and smooth and most importantly it doesn’t drip! Made of clear glass, complete with a lid and a glass stainer, it’s one of the finest glass pots I have seen and tried. The finish and the shapes of this pot indicate fantastic craftsmanship. It has a classic design, yet it fits very well into any modern home. The sprout has a special dripless finish and the handle feels very solid, letting you pour your ‘liquid gold’ with grace and satisfaction. The stainer has 16 cuts in its bottom for water access to the leaves.

As for more technical details, pots from the MIKO collection are available in three sizes 0.6, 1.2 and 2 liters. They are also heat-resistant 450ºC, microwaveable and dishwasher safe. I would however be hesitant to but a pot like this in the dishwasher, especially when it’s so easy to clean it by hand. There can be a problem with the stainer, as small tea leaf particles get stuck in the holes sometimes, but you can get the out by using a knife. You also have to remember to hold the lid while pouring, to make sure it doesn’t fall off.

I have had one of these for about 6 months now and using it is a joy. Trendglas have an amazing range of products when it comes to glass teaware, from pots of all kinds of sizes and styles, with different stainers and lids to cups, tea heaters and other gadgets. You also choose between four different tea warmers from the same brand to compliment your pot.
